About the AntePoster
Horse

The AntePoster is a collective dedicated to monitoring and publishing content on horse races in the future and the corresponding betting markets. Underlying this approach is the conviction that the best value in horse racing betting markets is just as easily found in races priced up by bookmakers well in advance. That said, not all horse racing futures markets offer interesting opportunities. The AntePoster team only gets involved when the price is right, and those prices are more often than not in double-digit territory. This allows for betting with low outlays for potentially high returns.

The most exciting opportunities are highlighted on Twitter to coincide with publication of articles on this site. Enjoy the articles here but also follow The AntePoster on Twitter to keep ahead of the game.

What is antepost betting?

Think of it as "futures" betting (which is how it's known in the US), taking the long view in order to maximise opportunity and price advantages. The AntePoster specialises in top-class horse races over the flat in the northern hemisphere, with a particular emphasis on the UK and Ireland, the United States, France, and the Middle East. Content therefore revolves around the antepost / futures markets for these races as made by licensed bookmakers in the UK and Ireland.

The other key racing jurisdictions in the northern hemisphere have little or no scope to create such markets, as in these countries betting – where it exists at all – is highly regulated and facilitated through centralised pools that do not allow the bettor to take fixed odds when betting on a horse. For the antepost bettor, the ability to take a fixed odds price on a horse where the price advertised is larger than the horse’s perceived chance of winning is the be-all and end-all.

This field of battle between bettor and bookmaker is an exciting one, and The AntePoster aims to weigh the scales more in favour of the former through the careful monitoring of relevant events, analysis of futures horse racing markets, and the identification of discrepancies.
