Coronation Cup: Giavellotto to seize a piece of the crown at 16/1

This is a flash article due to to the limited time availability of this opportunity.

We believe Giavellotto represents excellent each-way value in the antepost Coronation Cup betting market at 16/1 for the following reasons:

  • The Coronation Cup is looking weak... bar one top-class horse at the top of the betting, the French gelding Calandagan.

  • Most of the other big names (Los Angeles, Kalpana, possibly Illinois who has taken over Ascot Gold Cup favouritism) are expected to bypass the race for bigger targets, with crack French filly Aventure the latest to be steered elsewhere per trainer Christophe Ferland following today's Prix Corrida.

  • The field for this race for the last four years has comprised a very small number of horses: 6, 6, 5, 5. There is a strong chance of history repeating itself. An each-way bet on a high-quality horse with the clear intention to run is therefore highly appealing, as Paddy Power / Betfair will honour three places whatever the size of the field.

  • The horse in question is Giavellotto, brilliant winner of the Hong Kong Vase, who is heading to Epsom for this race in 17 days' time. He is much better than he was able to show in the Dubai Sheema Classic in March, and the implied place part of this bet is more than 3/1, which looks superb value.

Recommendation: Back Giavellotto each-way at 16/1 to win the Coronation Cup on 6 June with Paddy Power or Betfair Sportsbook
